Cyprus Tree is a beloved Mediterranean restaurant nestled in the heart of Byron Bay, Australia. With a rich history spanning 27 years, Cyprus Tree is more than just a dining establishment; it’s a cherished local gem. Andrew and Annette, the proprietors, epitomise the dedication and passion that have sustained Cyprus Tree over nearly three decades.
Eager to attract a younger demographic and boost bookings and foot traffic for Cyprus Tree, Andrew and Annette recognised the power of social media in engaging new customers, especially those of a younger demographic. This led them to initiate discussions with the BKC Media team about orchestrating a vibrant photoshoot tailored for social media platforms.
BKC Media initially embarked on the “Cyprus Tree Sessions,” a series of videos spotlighting the restaurant’s delectable meals and wine pairings. However, despite the quality of the content, the lengthy format failed to resonate effectively with the target audience.
Building on the lessons learnt from the initial endeavour, BKC Media devised a new strategy focused on short-form video content tailored for social media platforms. By focusing on the narrative and leveraging Andrew’s charismatic persona, Cyprus’s street ethos and the offers; the team aimed to create engaging snippets that would captivate viewers’ attention. To ensure there was enough content to last for a few months, BKC Media’s production team shot a range of content in bulk that would be used over a 3-4 month period.
The photo and video shoot at Cyprus Tree centred on capturing Andrew in action as he prepared signature dishes, emphasising the freshness and authenticity of Cyprus Tree’s cuisine, the atmosphere and the food and drinks. Simultaneously, the team meticulously photographed each dish, ensuring a robust collection of still imagery to complement the video content, that could be used across social media as reels and still feed posts.
Recognising the importance of visual aesthetics, BKC Media upgraded their equipment, transitioning from mobile phones used for the ‘Cyprus Tree Sessions’ to professional-grade cameras. This shift in gear elevated the production quality, lending a polished and professional look to Cyprus Tree’s online presence.
Since implementing the new content strategy, Cyprus Tree has experienced a noticeable uptick in social media engagement and reach. The high-quality visuals and concise messaging have resonated with audiences, driving increased interest in the restaurant.
